A Night With The Police
– Have a good evening Zhu… and good luck with the police tonight!
I love my students’ sense of humor. I just wish he wouldn’t have said that in front of the whole class. Indeed, I didn’t rob a bank, I just went to a concert. The Police. Hence the witty comment.
I grew up in the 80’s, and even though I was way too young to remember when The Police broke up in 1984, songs like “Message In A Bottle”, “Can’t Stand Losing You” and “So Lonely” found their way to my homemade tapes during my teenage years. That and an almost lethal dose of Nirvana, Radiohead, Guns & Roses and Pink Floyd kept me going through high school.
We didn’t get floor seats but we still had a pretty good view and Sting was awesome, as usual. Wish you were here…

Leave a comment!

@Shantanu — Next time come along!
@Lori — Nothing special, just my digital camera, no flash. The camera is very clear, I love it.
@Spyder — I’m sure you would have liked it!
@JoAnn (now In HOLLAND again!) — It’s actually okay to take pictures, as long as you don’t have professional cameras etc. People don’t mind… I didn’t hide and I wasn’t the only one!
The Police played all the classic songs, Roxanne, Message in a Bottle, Every breath you take etc. It was very good!
@johnada — I like the songs cause they are good memories to me… but yeah, Sing is a bit fucked up. Looks young though., so tantra is apparently good!
@Ghosty — You are allowed to steal the pictures. Go in peace my son.
@Laarni — Thanks!
@durano lawayan — We will be even when I watch The Police on a beach under the sun!
@barbara — I really had a good time. Even though I’m not a die-hard fan, the songs are good memories for me and the concert turned out great.
@Theresa — Nah, they already know I’m uber-cool!
@Seraphine — No, but my thumb is sore.
@Saskboy — We took the bus, so no car troubles.
@Linguist-in-Waiting — The concert wasn’t even sold out in Ottawa. It was busy but some seats were way overvalued.
@Aiglee — You’ll catch a lot of concerts in TO soon I’m sure!
@shionge — The nosebleeds seats weren’t too expensive, that’s why we went.
@expatraveler — Hi there, nice to meet you! I grew up in Nantes, western France. I’ve been in Canada since 2002
I’ll be around your blog very soon!
@Rudy — I do! Just click on my Flickr feed at the bottom of the sidebar, you can download the hi-res version. Help yourself!
@Colleen — I know! I remember general admission in small arenas… couldn’t see anything!
@Celine — Thanks! Even I was surprised the pics turned out that clear.
@Max Coutinho — I was only 1 year old when The POlice broke up so I don’t remember them that well! That said, I heard the songs many times on radio when I was a teens and I liked the music and lyrics.
Zhu — I’m glad you enjoyed the Police concert. My husband and I went to the Police concert in Miami but we didn’t feel the concert was very good. Others who attended agreed and said that it wasn’t unusual for bands, sports teams, etc. to do poorly when in South Florida. Too much partying on South Beach the night before!!
No, they were good in Ottawa!
Cool! Saw them at a Police picnic in Montreal in 198? with Talking Heads! Brill!
Your photographs are fab! I am truly jealous that you have been to see sting! I imagine that it was an amazing experience, you lucky lady!!! The only concert I am going to this year is to see Queen — even though it just won’t be the same without Freddie Mecury.
