Busy Week-End In The Blogosphere !

schmooze_award-737768Woo hoo ! What’s best to start the week after a long weekend ? A blog award ! Friendly Danielle from SEO is for girls presented me with this schmooze award – apparently I’m good at interacting with other bloggers. According to Mike from Ordinary folk who designed the award, “Schmoozing as defined by Dictionary.com is the ability “to converse casually, especially in order to gain an advantage or make a social connection.”

So I’m one of the five lucky pick from Danielle, and it’s now my turn to pick five lucky winners. Here they are :

  • Sir Jorge of the Video Store Blues : Jorge reads and comments on an amazing number of blogs everyday and is trying to build a nice e-community. He is also the owner of Sir Jorge’s market, Sir Jorge WWE Blog, The Mexican DVD Review and gosh… I hope I don’t forget anything – this guy is everywhere on the web !
  • Silverneurotic of The Post-College Years Part II : a very friendly woman who write almost everyday on her personal blog, she always takes the time to “comment on comments” and to follow up. Go read her, she deserves it !
  • Cowboyft of A Cowboy’s Wife : she found me through Blogger’s group and we’ve been reading each other since then – her life is so different than mine… it’s fascinating ! She’s very friendly and open-minded.
  • Deadpoolite at Deadpool’s Laughing Den : ladies and gentlemen, here is the perfect guy ! Funny, a little bit crazy (but good crazy !), quick-witted… and Greek ! He deserves the award for always helping and discussing various subjects.
  • Princesse Écossaise of La Belle Saison : she deserves the award for several excellent reasons. First of all, she’s Scottish and she blogs in English (duh !) and in French. As a teacher, I can only praise her. Second, she’s always ready to help : she sent me some great questions to put in my FAQ. And finally she’s awesome ! Funny, good writer, in love with a French guy… 10 / 10 girl !

And apparently, the blogosphere was very active this week-end since I’ve also been tagged by Cowboyft of a Cowboy’s Wife on the “8 things meme“.

The Rules: “Each person posts the rules before their list, then they list 8 things about themselves. At the end of the post, that person tags and links to 8 other people and then visits those peoples’ sites and comments letting them know that they have been tagged, and to come read the post, so they know what they have to do.”

1) I rarely wear make-up because, let’s face it, I’m not really fully awake before 10 am. And I’d rather no poke my eye out when putting the eyeliner on.

2) My favorite snack is yogurt and granola with honey on the top. Although I pretend I only eat fruits when asked.

3) I go through geeky phases where I’d spend hours fixing the HTML in my blog, trying new software demo and customizing my Firefox.

4) I hate going to disco : I’d rather meet friends in a café or a restaurant – basically anywhere where we can actually talk and hear each other.

5) I love concerts and the last couple of years, I saw U2, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Rolling Stones and Manu Chao live.

6) I hate Paris. The city, not the woman. Well, not that I like Paris-the-blond anyway. Although I admit Paris is a nice place to visit, the city makes me feel uncomfortable.

7) When I make a grammar mistake in front of my students, I just pretend they didn’t hear right. Then I blame them for not listening.

8) I import my bras from France. I’m serious. If you want good sweater or jackets, Canada is fine. But nothing beats a French bra. So every 5 months or so, my mum send me a few bras, wrapped in newspapers. Duh : in case the customs open the package !

Let’s make someone else suffer on these questions… Victims : Wapentake, One Men’s Travel Blog, A New Perspective… and all the lucky award winners !

  1. You’re so crazy! I would love to have a good bra. From having 3 kids, they’re not far from the knees..lol.
Congrats on your award!! Woohoo…If I were to ever win one it would be for the meanest gal around or perhaps the most boring.

I’m in Houston right now so my updates and comments are slow. I’ll holler later on though!

So it is awards extravaganza here at Zhu’s blog it seems.Hmmm… what to wear what to wear… I dont even have my acceptance speech ready. I guess at the top of my head it would go something like this:

“If Zhu’s award is awesomeness so cool, so bright, so worthy, over at Deadpool’s Laughing Den the blogs are reaching forty… (not really but one can only hope, lol).

So thank you Zhu for giving me this medal as a rookie, however dont you dare forget you still owe me a cookie! (at least one, lol)”

Oh the poetic inspiration, oh the excess rhyming, oh the joy of commenting at Zhu’s blog…oh… OK, I am officially nuts…lol!

    Take care Zhu!

  3. Princesse Ecossaise on

Wowwwww I won an award! You wee minx, you’re great and I adooore you!

You know, before I started a blog I never won anything. I think I should blog for a living!

Thannnnnnnks darling Zhu, you made my day!

  4. That’s great! Congrats to all your picks, Zhu.

I am having so much fun watching the schmooze spread around – in a week or so I think Mike and I are going to put together a schmooze hall of fame to track where the schmooze has travelled.

  5. ~*SilverNeurotic*~ on

Thanks for the award!!! Sorry it took me so bloody long to come by to see what it was.

I’m SOOO jealous you’ve seen U2 live. Of my top three bands…that are still around today, they are the only ones I haven’t seen yet (Red Hot Chili Peppers was my first “big” show, and in my top three).

  6. Cowboyft : humm… I might open a French bra business… Good idea ! 😀

Deadpoolite : were you drunk for your acceptance speech ? I can’t believe you would say all these cool things about me !

I’m still working on my cooking skills… I really don’t wanna poison you now, award winner ! 😀

    Princesse Écossaise
: I’m the same girl, I never won anything, not even a cheap plastic stuff in funfair !

Glad you liked your award… you deserve it !

  7. Shan : I read your memes, you did a great job ! It’s always a fun way to get to know people 😉

Wat : eh non… Je trouve que Paris est une ville étouffante. But you know what’s more surprising ? A LA guy who speaks French and Spanish ! 😀

Danielle : it was a great idea to connect to the blogosphere – good job ! Can’t wait to see the hall of fame !

    ~*SilverNeurotic*~ : I was also so happy to see U2 – I love them !

  8. Hi Zhu!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! Always a pleasure to see you around!

Hahahah i also do not like Paris (the country, not the woman). I went there a few times, and I am convinced that even the French aren’t too interested in Paris. We often confuse the French people with Parisians – two totally different animals 🙂

    nice blog~!

Just imagine what I would write if I was a heavy drinker! I dont think humanity is ready for THAT much insanity just yet:)

Nope I am all natural and sober, a true Merc choir boy…

    Keep baking… lol.

Talk to ya later! (Oh by the way I got my “8 things about me” list ready as well, what a good blogging trooper I am… ha,ha,ha)

  10. Red Hot Chili Peppers…I’m jealous. I love them. 🙂

I definitely want to see Paris (the city, NOT the blonde) before I die. I think I’d like it, but we shall see. 🙂

  11. Congrats on your Award! Wish I would have known. I would have dressed up for the occasion. haha. Aww I remember those 8 things. They had it going on through myspace..not that I have a myspace..haha Any way, hope you are having a great week. Congrats again!!

  12. Bonjour, ca faisait un petit moment que je voulais passer, je vous ai vu chez Princesse Ecossaise…entre autre, votre blog est tres sympa…je le fuel de ce pas!

  13. My favorite snack is yogurt and granola with honey on the top

I just finished eating this for breakfast! But instead of honey, I had blueberries. Delicious! Oh, and it was soy yogurt.

    Happy weekend Zhu!

  14. Sebastian : you’re so right. A lot of foreigners assume Paris = France. I mean, it’s a nice place to visit but the customs are different.

It’s always a pleasure to read you, you have such a positive look on life and people, it’s truly refreshing !

Deadpoolite : I just mentionned alcohol cause I remember the ouzo… quite strong stuff 😀

But I guess you’re a natural. It just made you more interesting my friends :$

Webmiztris : I’m sure you’ll like Paris as a tourist. But living there is a total different thing 😉

  15. Ryan : No need to dress up, everyone’s welcome here ! :$

sylvie d : Merci pour ce gentil commentaire ! Je vais voir ton blog… C’est toujours sympa de connaitre de nouveaux bloggers !

Dan : must be nice with blueberries as well… mmm… gotta try that !

  16. Congratulations on your award Zhu – richly deserved.

Not sure my wife would agree with you on bras – once a girl has shopped at Marks and Spencer for underwear, it’s hard to change! My Mum is the exporter in this case.

Thank you for “victimizing” me – I’ll come up with 8 interesting things eventually!

  17. Way to go Zhu! Many congrats, though I have to say, I am not a smidge surprised. Keep up the great work!

  18. Hello Zhu! Wow… CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Oh, and I have finally completed my tag! Catch ‘ya soon ~ Graham :))))
