Happy Canada Day everyone!
It was (and still is) a crazy day here in Ottawa, the nation’s capital. With the visit of Kate and William and the usual festivities around Parliament Hill, thousands of people are wandering downtown in the streets of Ottawa.
I spent most of the afternoon downtown, trying to see something—anything really. We didn’t get anywhere close to the Royal couple considering we pretty much would have had to spend the night on the Hill. That said, we did hear the speech and weren’t too far!
Just wandering around is good enough for me, the city is lively and the atmosphere is great.
Beautiful photos, beautiful city. Ottawa was all over the news because of the royal visit. I really like your self portrait in Feng’s glasses.
Oh, I guess we are famous now! 🙂
Ottawa is a very picturesque place, I love it for that.
Wow, there’s red everywhere! It must have been a fun day!
Great photos! Must have been fascinating to be in Ottawa today.
Brave souls! Canada Day downtown is normally crazy, but with the royal visit, it must have taken some major endurance!
Great photos though! As usual! 🙂
Thank you! Did you go? To be honest, it wasn’t so bad, the crowd was mostly concentrated around Parliament Hill and people weren’t pushy.
Happy Canada Day! Love the pics and the fact that the flag is everywhere. I am a big fan of the Canadian flag.
Thank you! I love that flag too, very picturesque and easy to recognize. I like the US flag as well for that.
Wow! That’s a lot of people. I’m not sure I would have been able for it, but it looks like you had a good day and the sun was shining 🙂
The crowd was very friendly and not pushy, it made a huge difference! That and the nice weather 🙂
I forgot, this is Canada!
Hi Zhu
Looking at your pictures make me look forward to my first Canada day next year. Can’t wait to get to Canada!
Oh, you will love the celebrations I’m sure! So are you landing soon or are you in the process of applying for permanent residence?
I have made my first landing last year, but returned to pack up my stuff….am hoping to come back to Canada this year or early next year
Great! Where are you heading to?
We were going to come to Ottawa for the Canada Day weekend but changed our mind after our hotel search turned up nothing – found out later that Kate/Will were coming at the same time! So we went to Montreal instead.
Nice pictures btw!
I read that all the hotels in Ottawa and around were full weeks ahead, even including those in far far suburbs. Crazy!
Did you like Montreal?
