Things That Freak Me Out

July 30, 2008 – 10:10 pm | 16 Comments

There isn’t a good way present your products, no matter how many metaphors you use: “ED” (erectile dysfunction), “Love Life Again” (get it hard, finally), “miracle diet pill” (take a placebo pill and eat less) or “it’s time for an honest voice” (get out and exercise, lazy ass!). Not to mention the freaky side effects, usually muttered very fast at the end of the commercial.

Under The Moonlight...

June 23, 2008 – 9:00 am | 14 Comments

It had been a crazy day in Ottawa. We had woken up to a beautiful blue sky and sunshine and had decided to eat out and then go for a walk. But suddenly, about half-way through my Vietnamese noodles, we heard the thunder. The sky had opened up it was soon pouring rain. It quickly turned dark and wind blew the rain hard against the windows of the restaurant.

The Kindness Of Strangers

June 18, 2008 – 4:27 pm | 17 Comments

A while ago, I blogged about Four Little Things and I mentioned my old Tiger Balm (万金油) that I bought long time ago. Shionge commented and offered to send me some from Singapore, where she lives — Tiger Balm, although widely used everywhere in the world and found throughout Asia, is manufactured in Singapore, so I guess she’s very familiar with it! I thanked her and we exchanged addresses.

Dona Nobis Pacem

Why do we fight today ? Because they attacked us first. Civil war. Biological war. Because we want to protect our values. Holy war and war gods. Because they have the bomb and they’re not supposed to. Preventive war, atomic war. Because they torture. War crimes. Because we have weapons to sell. Economic war. War of attrition. Phony war. War games.
