Qu’avons nous inventé ces derniers temps ? Qu’avons-nous appris ? Ce dernier mandat présidentiel a apporté son lot de révoltes, mais aucune innovation. J’en arrive à penser que notre président à fait comme les intérimaires : il a attendu que le temps passe sans rien foutre pour pouvoir inscrire plus d’heures sur sa feuille de temps.

When I went to China, my whole world just crashed. Not only I was seen as an immigrant and a foreigner for the first time of my life (a European visiting another European country isn’t really a foreigner…), but I also realized that everything I’ve been told about China was wrong. Europe values politics and has a “being against everything” attitude, while North America values individualism.

I’m currently following two elections. Yes. Politics. If as a North American you don’t understand what so fun in that, remember I’m French. Two elections is to me what the Stanley Cup and the Superbowl week-end is to you.

Je suis en train de me demander si je vais voter aux élections présidentielles de Mai 2007. Pas par rejet de la société ou accès de rébellion soudain : tout simplement parce que je trouve curieux de voter pour le président d’un pays dans lequel je ne vis plus. Et qui, accessoirement, s’enlise dans une bataille politique jamais renouvelée depuis vingt ans.

Sure, times have changed, most of the world isn’t trying to defeat communism anymore, since it pretty much killed itself. Sure, China wasn’t targeted as the latest “Axis of Evil”. Sure, China hasn’t been accused of fostering terrorist – so far – and no report has been made about imaginary “weapons of mass destruction” hidden somewhere between the Huanghe and the Changjiang.
