The Dalai Lama said that all over the world more people want peace than want war.……if we all begin to be heard, perhaps the transformation of consciousness that so needs to happen on this planet WILL happen. I have to believe that it can and it will. I love your writing, and your spirit. Way to be!

Peace is a goal and we need to fight, sometimes ourselves, to reach it. How paradoxal?
Most people want peace but let’s not be naive and think just holding hands and smile at each others would bring it. Yet, it’s one of the numerous ways to get a more peaceful world

You are so right. But I think there is some natural instinct that moves people to fight, and to achieve peace we would have to move beyond the unthinking primitive part of our brains, which is no easy task. If each of us, who have so much, gave up just a little and shared it with those who have none things might be different. But that's easier said than done. Taking ourselves less seriously would help too. Is any religion/belief worth killing or dying for? Unfortunately, many people think so. I'm pretty pessimistic about the whole thing, since there will always be someone who is willing to kill for what they believe or want, and some who even enjoy it. How do you make people like that see that it's wrong? But we should never give up, do whatever we can to bring about peace, and teach our kids that war is useless. @ Rudy — I can imagine how frustrated it is sometimes to see wars in Middle East but if they need to grow up… so do we. We (as most Western world countries) started the war in Iraq under no reasons. The weapons of mass destruction were a lie. Did we make the situation over there better? I’m not qualified to say and I think most of us aren’t. Time will say. But I won’t call that a successful and unselfish way to help the local population…

@diesel — I totally understand your point, trust me. That said, I can’t help thinking that Nazi ideology worked out so well mostly because of poverty, unemployment and society problems at the time in Germany. Should have the country be peaceful at the time, would have these ideology worked out that well? Probably not. Same for the Talibans which are, as far as I know, fed on hatred of the USA and other countries… on which they are at war with. I’m against the regime obviously but hey, they were born in a war cradle as well…

All wars are economic, for the intent is always to dominate the “enemy” and subjugate his will. Whether it was triggered by racial intolerance or religious intolerance, the end result is always economic. For if the victor controls the economic purse, it also controls the military might, as well as the cultural, social and religious life of the conquered.

Throughout the history of this planet, there had only been 244 years of Peace, a time when no war was being fought anywhere in the world.
