Fireworks In Québec

Written by on August 26, 2009 – 6:31 pm19 Comments | 7 Read this

Every year, the Lac Leamy Casino in Gatineau, Québec, hosts an international fireworks competition: Les Grands Feux du Lac-Leamy.

Feng and I were to cheap to buy tickets, so we ended up on the parking lot of a nearby mall, which offered great (free) view of the battle of lights, sounds and colors. A good tripod did the trick and we came home with some fine pictures (but an empty camera battery!).

    @Sidney — Thank you!

    @Khengsiong — I rarely bring mine, but I really wanted to try shooting fireworks.

    @Bluefish — Thank you! You have to use Shutter mode, that’s how I did it.

    @Soleil — Thanks! Yes, I love my new baby, the Nikon D-60 ;-)

    @Seraphine — I do the wall trick as well and never carry my tripod… except for fireworks ;-)

    @Tulsa Gentleman — Thank you! I was happy with some pictures.

    @Adem — Same here. I usually don’t go see fireworks because well, they all look the same but this one was quite stunning I must say.

    @expatraveler — Thank you! This competition is a big deal around Ottawa and it worth it.

    @Beth — You’re right… Although I think they are pretty harmless, but who knows?!

    @Gabriel — Oh, cool, I want to see the pictures! I hope it’s as cool as in Ottawa. Your kids will love it.

    @Linguist-in-Waiting — I used the Nikon D-60, on shutter mode and with the tripod. It was hard to focus on something at first but somehow it worked.

    @rowena — That’s true :lol:

    @RennyBA’s Terella — Thanks Renny, that’s sweet :-)

    @Nigel Babu — Glad you like it!

    @Final_Transit –I know, great deal…eh! :lol:

    having the tripod handy was so worth it– you have beautiful pictures to show for it.

    I’ve never seen better pictures of fireworks. Who needs to pay admission when you can see it all for free…and come away with these wonderful shots (from the parking lot, no less!)??

    I love it!! The first pic and the one below it are my favorites because blue and purple are my favorite colors. Actually indigo is my favorite color, but you know what I mean.

    Have fun this weekend!! :)
