This winter was so cold and so long that a few weeks ago, I seriously started doubting it would ever end. And every time I drove close to Dow’s Lake, where the Tulips Festival is held every year, I wondered if the flowers would bloom.
But miracles do happen and winter did end (well, I hope so anyway!). Last week, it was hot and sunny and we saw the first tulips in bloom. When we came back over the weekend, Dow’s Lake was packed with tourists and everybody was checking out the lovely beds of tulips.
At the 2013 Tulips Festival, Mark was still a small baby—he was only 8 months old. I remember we had to “schedule” our visit between two naps and he just sat there in the stroller, pretty bored (until Feng gave him his sunglasses and he started to chew on them). On the plus side, I took a great set of macro pics of the tulips because I actually had the time to focus on the flowers.
This year, I have fewer pictures of flowers but more fun with Mark. He was actually gentle with the flowers (I was afraid he would pluck them out one by one!) and he checked them out, fascinated by the colours. He liked the crowd too and ran around tirelessly. Bonus for the small “farm” across Carling Street where he pets animals!
Another post with tulip pictures to follow…
I always am fascinated seeing how Mark grows little by little. He seems to be a very happy young man in your pictures!
I find it fascinating too… bit like watching grass grow on some days but yes, he did change a lot! 😆
Spring at last! 😀 Beautiful
We are *only* two months late! 😆
The goat pics are my favourite!
I like these too 🙂
Zhu, he looks adorable! So curious and happy. I specially like the one with the goat and the one of father and son 🙂
The guys look good in this pic. They look like each other’s!
Awww i love the pictures 🙂
Did you go check out the tulips already?
I went downtown today and… there is almost nothing! Apparently, everything has been moved to Dow’s Lake… :S
Anyway, the pics are really cute! It’s nice to see Mark enjoy the flowers !
There isn’t much as Dow’s Lake either in terms of animation. Less than other years, it seems.
That’s one thing that bothers me about English Canadians – some of them are so enamoured by the Royal Family. I used to be, too, so I can’t claim to be any wiser, but now that I know more about European history and have lived in the UK, I can’t say that the links between the two countries are all that strong and that having a monarchy is necessary. The thing is, there’s liking the Royal Family and then there’s being obsessed by them, the latter which I wish English Canadians would be. They (member of the Royal Family) are human beings just like the rest of us so what makes them any special?
I’m indifferent at best. I don’t see the big deal but I never know who is who and couldn’t care less about the Royals.
Le serment de citoyenneté canadien :
http://www.cic.gc.ca/francais/ressources/publications/decouvrir/section-01.asp

Curieux! Ah ces foutus accents 🙂
Great title, nice pictures, good fun, thanks for sharing your family happiness, it made me smile and laugh 😉
