However, it does take time, i.e. months from what I know. Applying from outside Canada may be faster (not sure about the timeline for NZ) but you won't get a work visa. I was refused a work permit a renewal, because of LMO. We are looking in to common law and sponsorship, with an open work visa. I have to be able to work to support us, my visa expires in 2 days.
