Hiya Zhu,

Firstly, congrats on yet another great post.

I think I fall a bit short on this one, I am pretty much a stereotypical "stiff-upper-lipped" Englishman who tends not to complain about anything, just ends up apologising on other peoples behalf.

Anywayz, wave that flag with pride!!!

Best wishes, Graham :D

"North America believe in slow but steady change. When people have a problem, they tend to turn to local authorities : the mayor, the city councilman, the newspapers, the medias… You just don’t protest for the sake of it. You actually try to find a suitable compromise between two parts."

That's as good a summary of conservatism as I've heard recently. :)

The problem with me demonstrating is I dont have anyone to back me up. You see I am constanty parading for things like "free M and M's" to the people, establishing a world wide cookie day and an Eva Mendes worship day (I would be in Merc heaven if they were both on the same day by the way, lol) and other ambitious "political" issues like that.

As for "serious" politics, I respect the need for them since in most countries (including mine) a lot of peopled died and were tortured so that I have the right to be a free political animal and not a forcibly apolitical one...

It is funny though how, in my country at least, people blame politicians for everything... like those politicians are elected by some bunch of aliens and not active citizens:) It is truely hilarious how detached one is from politicians until the next big election comes and all become one 'big happy family", lol!

Bonjour Zhu!
I loved this post: very interesting, indeed! Yeah, France is too closed...but perhaps now it will open itself a bit more to the world, who knows? What irritates me about the French is that while defending their own policies, they make strange alliances, and sabotage third world countries (I'm referring to agricultural policies, and subsidies)!
lol yeah, the French are always on demonstrations lol...but at least they get what they want; cause here in Portugal *nodding* you can demonstrate all you want...you get nothing!!!
LOL I loved this post, this is great fun: I love politics you know?! although I had to impose on myself a strict rule: no public debates!!! lol Je touche toujours des questions polémiques: c'est affreux!!!
Merci pour avoir visité mon blog, et aussi pour avoir laissé un message :)!
The Portuguese post is a translation of the English one!
I hope you keep visiting (I usually post on tuesdays or wednesdays...depending on the workload)! I've subscribed to yours :)
Cheers!

Keshi : well, the worse part is politics used to make me really happy ! I'm being detoxed here in Canada :D

Sebastian : okay, I'll keep it in my bedroom and only display at on May 1st :$

Canadians and Americans are actually quite different. Demographics, geography etc. shaped it differently although it shares a common culture ground with the USA.

But North Americans just deal differently with problems... I remember when I was in Mexico, there were quite a few protests on the Zocalo, it felt like home ;)

brandy : welcome here !

Canada does have its issue, I can see them better now after living in the country for a few years. But people deal with them differently. It's weird at first, but it might actually be more efficient and good on the long term. We'll see... ;)

Hi Zhu....first I want to thank you for stopping by at my blog, I truly appreciate it :)

I read about politics alot - local & international and yes, it does make me think why can't there be peace.

It was amusing at the parlimentary system in Taiwan whereby politicans make a fool of themselves in the House.....about the numerous protests you mentioned, in Singapore it is illegal to have street protests so when I was in Helsinki last year during the ASEM Summit, I was 'soaked' in the atmosphere and totally new experience for me.

Great post Zhu and I'll be back :D Have a nice day.

I liked this post. As a Canadian, I like the fact that we are known as a 'peaceful country', while still being aware of serious issues and working to change them. Sometimes I admit, that I do wish we got a bit more... riled up over topics, but overall I'm pretty happy with how we operate.
