Finally, an entire weekend without getting soaked! It felt like a new beginning after a rainy and cold week.
We spent most of the time outdoors and decided to revisit a few of Ottawa’s main landmarks—Parliament Hill; Nepean Point, a hill offering a magnificent panoramic view of Parliament Hill, the Ottawa River and Alexandra Bridge; Rideau Hall, the official residence of the Governor General of Canada; the War Memorial; Château Laurier; the Byward Market and the business district. We even stumbled upon a pow-wow on Sparks Street!
It’s amazing how the weather affects people’s mood. Locals and tourists alike were friendly and cheery and the streets were packed with people, which is fairly rare in Ottawa—people like to relax at home, in their backyard.
It felt like fall just a week ago, but now it’s hard to believe it’s the end of August.
Nice town. Ottawa is not the worst town to live in North America, not as spread as Calgary or Houston for example.
In château Laurier, who is the hippie who shakes hand with John Lennon on the photo ?
😉 Good old Trudeau…
He looks like Kevin Spacey on this picture.
I swear I did NOT give birth to the actual Kevin Spacey.
Enjoy, winter will come…
The “w” word is banned here, sorry 😆
Luke and I have just booked at the chateau Laurier to come and stay for Christmas! I am super duper excited!!!
Oh, that’s awesome! Great pick too, among the fancy hotels in Ottawa I think it’s the best. Great location and so romantic… I like to just wander inside for the photo exhibition and the atmosphere.
