@CM-Chap - His wife (the last one...) is waaay more popular than him, even though most people describe her as a "man-eater"!

@zunnur - Thank you! I only selected those which caught my eyes.

@johnada - Must be a French trick...

@Ghosty - Just picked out the smart ones! :lol: But seriously, I think French have a tradition of being pretty good with words and quotes. Americans are better at speaking.

@CM-Chap - I know, no worries -- just kidding!

@kyh - I think most graffiti are more than vandalism. Walls are wiser than they look... and so are people. Thanks for the explanation on your last post!

@Beaverboosh - Je me souviens of nothing most of time!

@durano lawayan - What you said is very true in my opinion. I don't like to consider graffiti as plain vandalism, I think there is a story behind each scribble.

@Tanya - To be honest, I just started looking and it became like a game for me in France. I do keep my eyes open now!

@kyh - Yep, I do. Mum's side... Italy, via Corsica. ;-)

@RennyBA - Ah, the 68 generation... so much have been said about them! French have a very interesting take on words in my opinon. Never realized it before but I had a lot of fun spotting the graffiti!

I just love the French attitude and you've documented it so well. I mean, where would the '68 generation bee without their contributions!

Wishing you a great end to your week :-)

I love that chicken being held captive,lol...so cute. The garden graffiti is very nice too. Interesting about the illegal immigrant women one, we are struggling with this issue as well in the U.S.
Maybe I should take a second look at our graffiti. Maybe it's more interesting than I have always thought,lol.

Hi Zhu,

Graffiti provide an indication of the temperament of a place, especially in urban centers. Whether these are scribbles or may arguably be called art, the message, expressed in words or images, speak of people's sentiments, frustrations, calls for help, or to ventilate anger. Or, it could express a desire to transcend the blight of their surroundings by creating artworks on the walls, and to call attention to the decay that impacts on their way of life.

In Sao Paolo, an artist paints works of art in the subterranean sewers to draw officials towards the disease and infestation that affect human life because of its condition and decrepit condition. At the risk of his own health, Zezao has had several vaccinations but insists on his quest and lonely crusade for art no one would want to see. It is the only way he knows to make officials take notice and to help the citizens.

So, hooray for the graffiti scribblers and artists!! And hooray for a great post honoring such "change communicators". Coke is bad for your health. Diabetes and hypertension are two possibilities. I'll ask an artist to paint such messages on the walls of Ottawa. :-) --Durano, done!

These graffiti are an art in its own way! Some might call it vandalism, I call it artistic expression. :P

Oh by the way, in response to ur comment on my entry, the Chinese language in Malaysia is exactly the same as in elsewhere. We adopted Simplified Chinese in writings, though Traditional Chinese may still be found in Chinatowns as well as big headers of newspaper reports. And the 堂主天 is supposed to be read from right to left as in traditional Chinese texts, hence 天主堂, ie Catholic shrine. Haha!!!

I must say that French graffiti seems much more intellectually stimulating than American types ... although it could be said the American versions are more practical. Or did you just pick out the interesting ones? :cool:
