I Guess this is What Doomsday Would Look Like…

I dare you to find anyone in Canada happy with the weather right now. It’s… it’s miserable. There are no words to describe it, “it” being blizzard, sub-zero temperatures, strong winds and heavy rain. Yes, these were just the last few days.

We are so desperate for spring that when the temperature climbs to 5°C, people are walking around wearing shorts. There is a note on the door at Mark’s daycare reminding parents to keep on bringing snowsuits, mittens, gloves and hats.

Last Friday, at 11:35 a.m., after getting soaked three times already, I decided to document our misery. I headed out with the camera in the neighborhood. It was almost dark, the wind was very strong and I took the pictures quick between two downpours. It felt like doomsday.

This is what our “spring” looks like.

Stop laughing.

  1. 10 in Regina today but we had 22 on Saturday and tomorrow is going to be 20. All the snow has been gone for a week now. Dry streets and dust now. I have to wash the dust off the car windows every day but it beats scraping ice. Next comes the sinus season with dusty air and spring pollen and then really hot muggy weather and mosquitoes. There are some good things about winter.

  3. Ohh I hate it when it thaws and then it freezes again leaving all those slippery ice patches. I am guessing you have warm weather by now? It’s been beautiful here for a few days already, I was so happy to see all the birds flying back! It feels like there is life around us again.
