From Laowai To Canadian
This summer 2001 is hot and humid. The typhoon season is in full swing and some days, I can’t even leave the 32nd floor of the building where I live. The whole island is regularly swept by strong winds and pouring rain. I live in Hum Hong, about twenty minutes from my office in Tsim Shat Shui. When the rain isn’t too strong, I still make my way to the office, knowing that my co-worker will otherwise make fun of me.
Funny, How ?
We were three friends sit at a small wobbly wooden table, set half on the sidewalk, half on the curb side of the dusty road. We just came back from a bar where my roommate’s Chinese boyfriend was performing and we were starving, craving for a platter of jiaozi. It was a hot and humid night in Nanjing, China.
中国 - 一个神秘的国家吗？
过去，在很多西方人看来，中国人民共和国是一个很神秘的国家。的部分的法国人觉得中国很远，我也想永远不会有机会去。然而，我的思想发生了很大的变化。确实，随着中国改革开放政策的推行，去中国旅行发展实业讲学的西方人一天比一天多了。
我一九九九年单独去了中国。去中国旅行以前，虽然我一直有旅行的习惯，但是大家还对我说我非要注意不可。在中学期间，我不但学习说汉语，写汉字，而且关于中国人 的思想我了解了很多。我离开法国的时候，我就不怕，但我的脑海里仍有太多的偏见。
到中国的时候，我的偏见发生了很大的变化。我在大学里遇见了很多中国学生，他们都很热情。我们天天成群结队上饭馆，谈论着吃饭。谁能说中国是难以进入的国家? 中国人对西方国家很感兴趣，如果我们对中国也有兴趣，他们便会热情地欢迎我们。
并且，除了提高中文口语水平以外，这次中国之行还有另一些好处。例如，我有机会遇见了好些喜欢旅行的人。他们从不同的地方来，有的从美国，有的从非洲，有的从欧洲，他们都想遇见别的人。他们的旅行目的也不同：有些想出国找工作，有些是留学生，他们有了解不同文化的习惯。总之，这个旅行对我有很多好处。我回法国来的时候，我就明白了现在中国很开放，现化，并且我汉语说得越来越好。
看来，去中国起来非常重要的作用。出国留学果然使我增长了知识，同时也使我开放了眼界。
See China Right In Front Of You
Sure, times have changed, most of the world isn’t trying to defeat communism anymore, since it pretty much killed itself. Sure, China wasn’t targeted as the latest “Axis of Evil”. Sure, China hasn’t been accused of fostering terrorist — so far — and no report has been made about imaginary “weapons of mass destruction” hidden somewhere between the Huanghe and the Changjiang.
