Old Montréal

Right after arriv­ing in Canada for the first time in 2002, Feng and I took a road trip. We had landed in Toronto, went through Ottawa, and then Mon­tréal, Québéc city and the sur­round­ings. It was Feb­ru­ary and it was cold, bru­tally cold, espe­cially con­sid­er­ing that we were com­ing from Brazil, had no win­ter clothes and that I had never seen snow before.

The Killers In Montréal

On Sat­ur­day, on an impulse, Feng and I decided to drive to Mon­tréal to attend The Killers’ con­cert. Ini­tially sold out, the show had been moved to a big­ger venue at the last minute: the Bell Center.

We hadn’t been the Mon­tréal since the very muddy Radio­head con­cert last year. This time, the weather was gor­geous… but we were indoor.

Fireworks In Québec

Every year, the Lac Leamy Casino in Gatineau, Québec, hosts an inter­na­tional fire­works com­pe­ti­tion: Les Grands Feux du Lac-Leamy.

Feng and I were to cheap to buy tick­ets, so we ended up on the park­ing lot of a nearby mall, which offered great (free) view of the bat­tle of lights, sounds and colors.

The sur­face of the waters are a deep green due to the abun­dance of algae in the water… or a deep blue, depend­ing on the light. The two kilo­me­ters walk around the lake offers a great view on the for­est and the waters.
