Ten Things I Can Do

Not that I’m proud of it, but I can…

  1. Speed Read anything: I learned to read when I was about 4 and never stop since then. This led to minor misunderstandings in school, such as being called in front of the whole class to answer questions about whatever book to make sure I actually read it !
  2. Sail a boat: I grew up by the sea and I probably learned to swim before I leaned to walk. I used to go windsurf everyday in the summer and sailed small boats (never owned one though !)
  3. Put mascara on without a mirror: not sure when I developed this trick but it seems to amaze my girl friends…
  4. Look at a big jar of peanut butter or a bucket of ice cream and not eating it: easy one since I don’t like either. PB is… yucky, and ice cream is too cold for my taste ! Why bother when a great food called chocolate exists ?
  5. Count backwards in Chinese really fast: can be a good bargaining skill…
  6. Speak both French and English at the same time: thanks to intensive Canadian training, I’m now able to mix both language to create a sentence that makes sense to no one except locals in Ottawa !
  7. Know the etymology of words: I guess taking two years of Latin in high school wasn’t such a waste of time then… But still, I mean why learn a dead language ??
  8. Name all of the Chinese dynasties: on the other side, I suck in French history. Oh well, we beheaded all of our kings, right ?
  9. Eat blue cheese (you know, the rotten one): yummy… What ? What’s wrong with that ? It’s my heritage we’re talking about !
  10. Take cold showers a few months in a row : thanks to backpacking ! However, contrary to common feminine beliefs, I must warn you : your skin doesn’t get any firmer afterwards !

I can relate to number 1 and 2 but not number 3, heh.

On number 7 then incredibly enough then I’d love to at least know a little bit of Latin. I’ve heard it is extremely useful when learning other languages. For example I’m sure it would help my learn French/Spanish/Italian.

    Mmmm.…blue cheese!

    I’m thoroughly impressed.

I wish I could put together a list of 10.

But I think I’d be limited to writing a lot and rambling.

But then again, I’ve never given it much thought.

Putting mascara on without a mirror, now that is amazing. I applaud that one.

I’d poke my eye out…if I wore mascara.

    I don’t believe I can do any of them…sadly.

Chocolate is my favorite!!! Haha, I love mixing French and English, it’s good fun, unfortunately I can only really do it with my family here…

  • Princesse Ecossaise says:

I’m with you on speaking french and english at the same time! It’s my new language; franglais.

My french boyfriend and I are forever confusing others when they listen in to our conversations because every word alternates between french and english hehe!
