1) Drive: it’s embar­rass­ing but hey, bet­ter laugh about it. I failed my dri­ving test three times in France, finally got a dri­ver license in Canada but sel­dom use it. How­ever, I do know how to prop­erly drive around a round­about, a trick that few North Amer­i­can seem to master.

2) Do maths in my head: every time I try to do mul­ti­pli­ca­tion with­out a pen and a paper it feels like my brain is freez­ing. How­ever, I can count back­ward from ten to one in Chi­nese. It could come in handy, you never know…

3) Drink beer: I’ve tried many times but no, still taste like shit to me. I hate the bit­ter­ness and the smell. I’ll have a mar­garita instead.

4)Do my own taxes: must be related to #2. Must be.

5)Learn Ger­man: I’m fairly good with lin­guis­tic and can speak for­eign lan­guages, but Ger­man is still a mys­tery to me. How can word be that long ? How can a lan­guage be so… hum… harsh ? Why, why, why ?

6)Fake accents: I can do the French accent in Eng­lish, that’s about it. I can write in, let’s say, Que­be­cois, mock­ing the swear­ing and the phrases, but I def­i­nitely can’t imi­tate the accent. Too bad, so many peo­ple ask me…

7)Under­stand how stock mar­ket works: okay, let’s do that again. It’s vir­tual money, you only know when you lost/ made some by read­ing a page full of num­bers in the paper, they don’t use real com­pany names but acronyms… what’s to like, again ?

8 )See stere­ograms or any of the eye trick poster: I’ve stared for hours, crossed/ uncrossed my eyes, turned the pic­ture upside down, rip up the stu­pid thing. It deserved it.

9)Wear short when it’s just above 0C : a Cana­dian habit I don’t mas­ter yet… I wore a skirt last week (8C), froze my legs the whole day, reverted to jeans. Oh well.

10)Eat putine: come on ! You feel your arter­ies clog­ging as you chew… Ten days of no eat­ing would’t be enough to recover from the damage.
