@Linguist-in-Waiting — The locks are from the Rideau Canada to the Rideau River… now come to think of it, Rideau is more of less part of the St Laurent at one point I guess.

You know there is same kind of lock at our vacation home in Sweden (Göta Kanal) and I know you’ve red my posts about it They looks very similar you know.

LOcks… It seems that the northeast part of North America has plenty of those. Here on the other side of the border, there are locks too: there’s the Lockport Locks, which is less than an hour’s drive from where I am, and I presume there are several locks along the Erie Canal as well.

Just wondering, do you know where those locks of yours in Ottawa lead to?

@barbara — Canada has such a small population, it’s actually easy to be by yourself on gorgeous places. Granted, it’s still a bit rare in Ottawa, especially downtown!

@Liz — I know what you mean — totally different culture here. People eat really earlier, and start even earlier. Sometimes, like in the summers when days are long, it drives me nuts.

How cool; you & your friend had the Locks to yourself ! Those are rare moments of calm in a city. I don’t think that I could do that very often in Paris !
The sun has made a timid return here in Paris after about 5 days of crappy weather.
