The French have an expression for it: “faire le tour du poteau” (to go around the flagpole). Most people will go to the U.S.A and re-enter Canada immediately walking or driving (or biking apparently in the case of Priyank, the author of Final Transit!). I know this is a little off topic, but I see that you’re a French teacher. I must admit I like the French language, however, my French is quite limited, I have done it for 5 years though. I am actually going on to do it at College, it should be pretty fun if not quite difficult .

Well, glad to see everyone has some kind of experience at the US border – for a second I thought I really looked like a criminal…!

Sir Jorge : Yeah, Canadian borders are usually more relax. Never really had a bad experience and I crossed many many times.

Princesse Écossaise : As I said in the post, the US officer gave me a “refused alien” paper since I was just exiting Canada but not actually going to the USA. Go figure !

Webmiztris : See. being French I really can’t joke like that. They’d put me to jail for that !

Silverneurotic : I seriously considering it. I mean, at least it would be original. Might be tough for job interviews though…

I really like the pictures, especially the first of the four towards the bottom of the page.

I remember when I went to America I was scared stiff going through immigration! It wasn’t as if I had anything to hide, I was just really nervous!
