i think i would love china. from your pictures, it has a great energy. and why not, everything is going their way. their economy is growing, a middle class is forming, things are getting better. not all the world is so lucky.
The food looks awesome, makes me miss my home, where there’s similar food markets. Awesome photos, yet again!
Wow! Great pics Zhu! I think I’d like to go there, but the deep fried insects admittedly puts me off!
I love the delicacy on the stick…I miss them so much!
nice… and what’s that 炸鲜奶加炼乳? Sounds yummmy…
It’s 10:15 in the morning and now I’m very hungry from these pictures. I don’t think I’m going to be able to make it until noon for lunch . . .
I don’t remember sleeping early when I was there with a bunch of ladies 😉 We eat almost every thing excep the bugs of course but now with the tainted milk…;( It is a different story now.
I’m sold! Let’s go to Beijing! Pick me up at the Miami airport and let’s make an appointment for a rough massage when we get into Beijing. 😉
wow ZHU, This are fantastic shots and they are giving a really good impression of the hurry-life esspacially the speedy-cars, good photo’s I love them all!!!:)
Watch my sailingtrip on the IJsel-Markermeer in Holland and some windmils +History& poem..

I love your night photos, do you walk around with a stand 😉
Amazing pictures!! Love it, love it, love it 😀
Wow. This city never sleeps. Is it true that opening hours for different establishments in the city aren’t fixed by a certain time period, say, not everything is open between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM? Instead, there is a rotation? Somebody told me that, I never knew whether it was true, and he said that it was because if it were the case that shops were only open during a certain period of time like say, in the USA, then the shops simply cannot handle the amount of people.
haha. until you actually start thinking in another language, it’s easy to confuse words. i’m trying to learn some basic spanish, but french keeps getting in the way. tu tiene un visage bonita. so i’ll never be able to talk (much less think) in chinese characters!
Looks like a very cosmopolitan and pulsing town and the food looks delicious too – great pics Zhu!
Great pics. You are a good photographer.
I see the 全聚德 restaurant in one of the picture. Despite its fame, it doesn’t serve the best Beijing Duck…
khengsiongs last great read…Democracy – USA vs. Malaysia
@Seraphine – China is a great place to be in right now, it has a lot of energy and so much is happening. But this is mostly true for the cities… the Western part of the country isn’t so lucky.
@sir jorge – Oh, tell me about it, I’m the biggest fan of Mexican markets.
@princesse ecossaise – Nah, you can have… deep fried caramel apples instead if you like. 😉
@Bluefish – It is an great treat 😉
@kyh – I haven’t taste this one I think, but I love skewers in general.
@johnada – See, in China, you could go out and eat something right now!
@shionge – I still trust Chinese food. Not so much the processed food but anything fresh.
@Scarlet – I’m looking into direct flights Miami – Beijing 😆
@JoAnn’s D Eyes/Holland – Thank you JoAnn for your praise on my pictures!
@Priyank – Not even, these pictures are just point and shoot. I don’t have the patience for a tripod!
@Aiglee – Thank you 😉
@Linguist-in-Waiting – I have never heard that before actually! Most shops tend to open later than in the West. A lot of small businesses (and there are a lot now!) just open whenever it’s busy, which is usually a lot. Only franchises and posh shopping malls are 9:00am to 9:00pm.
@Seraphine – Oh tell me about it! I’m not great at translating, even mentally, and I always think in whatever language I’m using, which is confusing!
@RennyBA – It’s a great place, very different from Europe. It’s more latin in some kind of way.
@khengsiong – Thanks! Where did you eat the best Beijing duck? I find Quanjude okay, if a bit expensive. I found another great place in Wangfujing too.
See our likings are worth it! If you were not night owl; you would have missed this great night 😉
Beijing looks great at night.
Zhu,
I ate the ‘better’ Beijing Duck near my hotel, but I no longer remember the place.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!! Simply divine!! Every shot captures the magic of the location! What camera do you use, it really handles night time so well. The header photo is like something out of a travel magazine… totally perfect and so buzzing with electricity.
I also really like the market scenes. I love walking around markets late at night.
Zhu, you really are the master of travel photography! Thank you so much for sharing them with us xxx
