Gatineau Park in Québec, right across Ottawa, probably offers the best Fall scenery in the region. The trees that make up the huge forest slowly turn yellow, orange and red. Lakes reflect the Fall colors and hundreds visit the park to witness the transition to the dreaded winter.
You always capture magnificent photos with your camera. I haven’t been experimenting a lot with my camera and I always have a hard time taking pictures at night.
Is it cold yet?
Beautiful!
But I don’t see any people in the images. Is the place very remote?

You are way ahead of us (Oklahoma) in Fall colors, but we will still be enjoying our Autumn when you are tromping through snow and slush. Beautiful photos Zhu. The deep blue sky really makes the colors pop.

Gorgeous colors! Can’t wait to hit peak color down here. Fall is such a beautiful time of year.
@Bluefish – Night pictures are always tricky. My best advice would be to use a tripod and keep the camera very still.
It is getting cold… between 0C and 10C right now, and quite rainy/ windy.
@Khengsiong – It is quite remote. The park is huge, so you can drive for 30 or 40 min. without meeting anyone. Same goes for the parts of the forest we were in.
@Tulsa Gentleman – Yes, Fall is earlier in Canada… beautiful season, isn’t it?
@Soleil – I know, it is really worth seeing.
Gorgeous pictures like usual. Here the leaves are turning yellow as well, Not in Denmark though – it’s still warm over there

Salut Zhu,
Just spectacular !!! We were just at the start of the colors when we were there. But we got in some nice shades of orange & red.
This is the time of year when I most enjoy being in North America.
See you soon
xx

I’m heading north to the cottage in a few weeks but I suspect I’m going to miss the beautiful display of fall colours by then – it’s been so cold lately both here and there…

Canada in the Fall is the most beautiful thing in the world. I always say it should be mandatory -and free- for people to come to Canada for a week between October and December.
Your pictures capture the spirit of what I think to a t. They are just gorgeous!

We had the opportunity to visit Gatineau Park last year during peak Autumn colours. The trip to Ottawa from Toronto was due to my partner’s traveling for work – I just decided to meet up with him. Fall foliage was not the agenda, we just happened to luck out with the timing. We spent the day hiking around in Gatineau Park and had a glorious time with the sights and smells. I grew up in NY and lived in New England but hadn’t experienced Autumn in years thanks to living in California. It was my partner’s first Autumn. Anyway, we will miss it all this year. Circumstances prohibit us from traveling to see the leaves. Alas.
@the writer – Warm In Denmark ? I’m surprised, I would have thought it was a cold place.
@barbara – You are absolutely right, it’s one of the perks of living in the North of North America 😉
@Nigel – Don’t have red leaves in India 😉
@Agnes – Thank you (on behalf of the leaves!)
@Beth – You never know actually, I found the leaves changed colors pretty late this year.
@Adem – Thank you! Lucky day with blue sky, it’s rare this Fall.
@Lis of the North – Thank you! University is challenging but I’m only taking two classes, so…
@Gabriel – I agree! This season almost makes me forget the harsh realities of winter.
@Seraphine – Yes, you must see that once in your life. As Gabriel said, it’s almost mandatory!
@Adam – Sorry to hear that! If it can make you feel better, the weather isn’t so good, I was lucky to have a day of nice blue sky to take the picture. This year is very rainy I find.
OMG! the colors are mind-blowing. Now THIS is what I miss living in Phx…

I just love this colourful season and you have proven the beauty of it!
Again it strikes me how similar your fauna is to Norway’s (yes, I know you’ve seen my post about it).
Still hope you’ll find the way to meet us and see for yourself in August next year 🙂

Photos in this post and the previous one. What awesome colors they are !!
A treat to our eyes. Thanks a lot for clicking and then sharing them.
@Seb – I guess it is the good side of living up North 😉
@RennyBA’s Terella – Yes, I saw your pictures and it is very similar. 🙂
@Nisha – Thank you! These colors amaze me every year.
Beautiful pictures, and always that warning of winter around the corner, though of course that can be beautiful in its turn. But to be a True Canadian(tm), you have to spell colour with a “u”. And that last letter of the alphabet is zed, not zee. 🙂
Love the shots of the trees in the forest!
