Hey i really like you website, I am a New Zealander, on a 1 year work visa in B.C, I came to Canada to continue my relationship with my Canadian boyfriend who is about to finish his 1st of 2 years at BCIT. I was refused a work permit a renewal, because of LMO. We are looking in to common law and sponsorship, with an open work visa. I have to be able to work to support us, my visa expires in 2 days. My question is do you know how long I might be unable to work… while waiting to hear back about sponsorship and open work visa. hoping you might know something? best regards.liz
If you are applying for sponsorship from within Canada, you can eventually get a work visa waiting for a decision to be made. However, it does take time, i.e. months from what I know. Applying from outside Canada may be faster (not sure about the timeline for NZ) but you won’t get a work visa.
Unfortunately, I don’t see a way to get another work visa quickly 🙁
