Mark loves “machines.” “Machines” can be, well, any machine—air-con units, vacuum cleaners, washing machines… anything with a loud engine that roars, bonus if something spins and he can see it.
The other day, he was spending the evening at my in-laws. We picked him up after school and stopped by home. I figure I would give him his bath, to save my in-laws the trouble (I know, I’m a very nice person…).
Problem: after the bath, his hair was wet (duh!) and I didn’t want him to get cold in the car.
“Eh… don’t we have a hair dryer somewhere?” I thought. Yeah, well, I don’t style my hair or blow dry, I let the wind do it, and I can’t remember the last time I use a hair dryer.
“Mark, come to my room… I’m going to show you a really cool machine.”
Of course, he followed me without complaining (toddler pro-tip, always build anticipation).
I found the hair dryer in its box, under the sink. I brought it back to his room and plugged it in. I grabbed the camera as well, just in case.
The look on his face was priceless—a mix of “OMG this is so cool” and “wait a sec… what the hell is that?” I blew hot wind on his face and he loved it. Then he tried it on me. Then on him again.
Yeah, he arrived at my in-laws a bit later than planned…

Haha! Such a cute reaction!
Kids are… very expressive!
Love you guys ! I have the same machine lover at home, impossible to mix the soup without him, it is HIS machine…
The mixer? My, this can get… messy, no?
Aww, this is so cute! He is getting bigger and bigger now!
Oh yes, he is no longer a baby!
This is too cute. I can’t handle it
We all need a cute moment once in a while! 🙂
Oh yeah. I can’t handle it, saying my heart is going to explode of cuteness! 😀
Oh no, your poor heart! 😆
I don’t blow dry or anything either – in fact, I rarely brush my hair! I remember the same thing with my nephews and a fan. Simple things eh?!
Yes, Mark loves fans too!
