Happy birthday, Canada!

Like every year on July 1, the crowd gathered on Parliament Hill to celebrate. And like every year, I couldn’t believe how busy it was…! Apparently, from 150,000 to 300,000 people usually come.

This Canada Day is a bit special to me since I will become a Canadian citizen this Friday. So I walked around, from Parliament Hill to the Byward, from Rideau Street to Kind Edward, taking pictures and enjoying a small burst of patriotism. Hope you don’t OD on Canadian flags!

There were people eating, dancing, skating, trampolining, biking, walking, singing everywhere. Ottawa is definitely the place to be to celebrate Canada!

    Very interesting to see everyone in a party mood! Toronto was quiet silent comparatively, but maybe that’s because we just had the pride weekend 3 days back and the weather was not that great. We were dressed in Canada colors and invited strange looks from people… 😀

    @Nigel Babu – I actually totally forgot to wear white and red, so I was wearing black. Nevermind 😆

    @Final_Transit – I heard that Toronto wasn’t big on Canada Day… too bad! Next time come and join us in Ottawa!

    @shionge – Red and white are great colors for a flag, I love them too!

    @expatraveler – Ottawa loves Canaday Day, it’s a big tradition here. Our time to shine I guess! 😆

    @Soleil – Usually, Canadians are not that patriotic… I’d say less than Americans, But on Canada Day, people go wild!

    @expatraveler – Thank you 🙂

    @DianeCA – Thank you 🙂 Writing a post about it right now!

    @RennyBA – Thank you Renny!

    I was in Banff on Canada’s Day, thinking it’s be amazing to celebrate this special surrounded by mountains. But I was too exhausted from our 3.4 km hike (one-way) that I passed out on the bed. 😛

    Si tu me le permets, je remercie le Canada et les canadiens de t’avoir accueillie ; ils ne le regretteront jamais. Par contre si je disais que je suis fier de toi tu me répondras que j’en fais trop… OK … Je n’en rajoute pas.
    J’espère quand-même que tu passeras encore nous voir de temps en temps à la maison.

    @beaverboosh – You didn’t even miss Tim Hortons? I’m disappointed!

    @Seraphine – It’s good that I’m not a Quebecer then 😉

    @Tonpapa – Tonpapa… c’est Maori comme nom?

    Je viendrais quand tu seras un artiste célèbre avec une fontaine à ton nom dans le centre de Nantes.

    … Ou quand les Canadiens me lanceront la première boule de neige cet hiver…
