After Playa Tamarindo, we spent a few days in San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica. Then, we took a bus to the small town of Santa Elena, in the mountains. We are in the cloud forest… basically, rain forest in the mountain, and so high we feel like we can touch the clouds!
We are going back to San Jose tomorrow, leaving Costa Rica soon… for other adventures in the South of the South! More later on that…
But meanwhile, these are some of the animals we met in Costa Rica. I have not included pictures of mosquitoes… damn blood suckers!
I like the way you arranged the photos. Especially the fact that you appended “(yes, they are real)” to the crocodiles. The turtles look like pillows in the sand.
Nice photos:)
wow, thanks for posting these pictures. I love them. Do the parrots live in the wild? That raccoon also looks cute 😀
Oh I am so envying you right now…it looks like a good crowd in Costa Rica….and lovely colors too..the turtles and the birds are equally lovely….nicely done.
Everything looks so exotic! Happy, happy new year over there!!!
You live in Canada! You should be used to the mosquitoes! LOL!
Heh! Mosquitoes are a fact of everyday life, irrespective of where you travel. 🙂
I like that shot of the turtles.
Colorful and exotic! Your adventures never seem to end. What a great way to begin a new year!
Great pictures. The parrots are beautiful, the monkeys funny. The raccoon looks to be a different species than we have in the central USA. I hope the crocs were taken with a telephoto. They don’t look very cuddly. Sue and I spent the holiday in a stone cabin with a fireplace. We had no crocodiles, but the wild turkeys were neat.
Have a happy and exciting (but safe) New Year and keep posting. I read your busing post to Susan and we both enjoyed it. You actually are a very good writer – but you knew that.
Mozzies are an annoying lot in the tropics. Do you hv mozzies too in freezing Canada?
@Linguist-in-Waiting – I knew the crocodiles looked fake, so I figured I´d better explain! 🙂
@the writer – Racoons are cute but they steal stuffs (food…) amd they are sneaky! Parrots live in the wild mostly.
@Bluefish – Thank you!
@DianeCA – You are right, it´s a colorful country and a great place. I´d take you guys in my backpack next time!
@Baoru – It´s certainly a change since cold Canada – I love it!
@Spyder – Well, strangely enough, I have never had too many problems with mosquitoes in Ottawa. Politicians are prob. too toxic for them 😆
@Shantanu – Yes, but they can be a real pain. I had so many bites at one point…
@Scarlet – I hope it won´t end any time soon, I love discovering Latin America!
@Tulsa Gentleman – The raccons were different than the ones we have in Canada too, but as sneaky. Monkeys are funny, and they look so… humans!
@kyh – There are a lot of mosquitoes in the summer in Canada, not that many in Ottawa but it is a nuisance in the country.
Somehow I wasn’t expecting raccoons in Costa Rica. They’re quite a nuisance here (I live beside Toronto’s largest park, Raccoon Central), and I’m sure they are there, too!
