It’s summer here in Ottawa (finally!) and everybody is out enjoying the nice weather.
The National Capital Region welcomes a lot of tourists in the summer, especially before, during and after major events such as the upcoming Canada Day, best celebrated in Ottawa. You can easily spot them: they take countless shots of the Parliament and eat Beaver Tails! (on second thought, so do I… ahem…)
The downtown core is always busy, even on weekdays—sometimes I wonder if any work gets done when it’s above 20°C in Canada. The business district is often deserted during the coldest month when people would rather take refuge inside the Rideau Centre or in one of the many indoor shopping malls hidden inside government buildings. But now, the Byward Market, Parliament Hill and the Elgin/Bank Street area are full of people eating, smoking, checking their email and having a drink outside.
It feels right. I like this kind of atmosphere, plus it’s great for those in love with street photography.
So here are more candids in Ottawa!

I’m loving the second one – such a normal jacket… but wait, with a bit of wind – it reveals pink! 🙂
Yes, I thought it was cute!
I love the pink on that jacket! Mostly I love the thoughtful man, almost looks comical in the intensity of his thoughtfulness! Also, I love the fact that a few people grew wise to your picture taking! What did you tell them you were doing?!
Not much, I usually explain that this is a fun project I’m doing (which is the truth!). People like attention and like cameras 😉
I LOVE the picture of the couple!
It’s one of my favourite too. Funky people!
