Happy birthday, Canada… from London!
That’s right—from France, we took the Eurostar (more on that later) and are now in London for a few days. And this afternoon, we stumbled upon the Canada Day celebrations in London, in Trafalgar Square—a huge (unexpected) party!
We had a good laugh when we noticed there were even a Tim Hortons on-site for the occasion, as well as a poutine stall (£5 though!) and a bunch of Canadian flags. It felt like Parliament Hill, just noisier. For some reason, techno music was the music of choice—what, no Tragically Hip, the perfect Canadian band? Oh right, they are in Ottawa, playing at the BluesFest.

Happy Canada Day! One year, I’ll make it into your country to help celebrate – every July we have a big family reunion just 5 miles from the border,and every year I don’t get to go 🙁 And how cool to see this in London! That’s so amazing! I don’t think I’d know WHAT to think if this happened for my country elsewhere. Awesome!
Nice! But 5 GBP poutine! No thanks. And why do I see Buffalo wings there? Isn’t that the wrong side of the border? Hehe, anyway, it’s fun nonetheless, and I am glad you enjoyed it!

@Linguist-in-Waiting – I know, the U.K is expensive but 5 pounds for poutine is rather overpriced. Not to mention that poutine is…er… not that great!
