Our Thanksgiving tradition at home is basically me giving Feng and Mark presents and them saying “thanks” because Canada’s favourite fall holiday is usually around their birthdays—Feng on October 11 and Mark on October 12.
I can’t believe Mark is turning nine.
And I can’t believe it’s fall because temperatures been unusually warm. I’m wearing shorts and not in a fuck-it-I’m-Canadian-I-ain’t-cold kind of way. It was around 23⁰C this weekend and it should last a few more days before dropping to… wait. Let’s not think about it.
It’s still so warm that trees were mostly green at Rideau Hall, residence of the governor general of Canada and Ottawa’s best downtown park for the full display of fall colours. We walked to Rideau Fall, another prime spot and picturesque backdrop where we did find yellow, red and orange leaves, phew.
Feng got a cheesecake and presents, Mark got a vanilla cake and presents. I didn’t bake either treat so they were delicious.
Now I’m going to clean up candle wax and LEGO pieces…
Yes, but it was not the worst. Last week, i was in Miami, Florida (near one of Trump resorts, not Mar-A-Loco but Doral, the one with bedbugs), and the humidity is barely bearable. Even when it’s only 25° in the morning, every effort makes you sweat like crazy.
This is the kind of weather I love. I know, I know… 😆
Urelated, but are you affected in any way by supply chain issues (at work or in life)? We have many empty shelves in Ottawa in supermarkets and I’ve heard about issues in contruction and all.
No, i haven’t noticed anything on a large scale. Sometimes i’ve seen signs saying that some products are missing, but nothing really widespread.
However, i’ve indeed noticed far more signs asking for hiring people. Workers shortage is visible. But the situation is not as extrem as in U.K.
2 weeks ago, the temperatures were around 34° in Southern Saskatchewan. But 2 days ago, i had -11° in Southern Alberta in the morning.
I bet you were happier in Southern Alberta 😉

Happy very belated birthday to Feng and Mark !
Thank you on their behalf!
