Last Saturday, we finally got the chance to visit the Olympic Green. The olympic venues were scattered across the city, but the main ones were held at the National Stadium, the famous Bird Nest, and at the Watercube.
Getting into the park itself was a bit more difficult than planned: one those with tickets to an even that day could enter. Fortunately, we had tickets for track and field, which was held at the Bird Nest. We also went to the Closing Ceremony the following day.
The security wasn’t that tight. You just had to have the bags screened through an X-ray machine. Pretty much everything was okay to take but food and drinks, which were sold inside the stadium at normal price anyway. No army guards everywhere, no fingerprinting or God knows what.
The Olympic Green is huge. It’s located North of the city, linked to the brand new subway system which was improved a lot for the Olympics. The two main sights are of course the Watercube and the National Stadium.
Hey Zhu!
Beautiful!! The nest is absolutely beautiful, but the Water Cube is something else!
I can see that you are having a great time there :D!
Have a safe trip home, darling!
Cheers

Hi Zhu,
It’s a marvelous experience you’ve had being where the world’s attention is at. Spectacular structures and the worlds greatest athletes. I don’t think any other Olympic event could be as grand and as massive as what China has hosted.
Take pictures with you on the track. or on a hurdle or something, making sure the Bird’s Nest is clearly identifiable. LOL! I would if I were there. Or I could be at the Olympic pool with my tongue out and then photo shop it showing me ahead of Phelps…he he he.
Anyway, have fun. Thanks for sharing the photos. 🙂 –Durano, done!

Hey Zhu,
Very beautiful pictures.May you a great time there !
Btw,The Bird Nest is 鸟巢 in chinese.
🙂
Great. Thanks Zhu! I was real keen on this Bird’s Nest. Everything looks so colorful. Looks like China had everything well planned 🙂
That nest is real cute. Do not you think Media Tower resembles Eiffel Tower at night? Too lovely!!
Hey I want those Tees. They are just too good!
@Max Coutinho – Hey Max… back from your holidays? They are always too short, aren’t they?!
@Lis of the North – China is a great place to take pictures 😉
@durano lawayan – I looked for him but I haven’t had a chance to spot Phelps – he is too quick anyway!
@Aiglee – WE thought too, but it was much more relaxed than said before.
@kevin – Oops… I’ll correct that! Can I blame the mistake on the fact it was late when I wrote the caption? 😉
@Annie – It does look like the Eiffel Tower, I noticed too! The tee shirt were expensive, I bought the fake ones at the park’s exit 😉
I was fortunate enough to catch almost all the Olympics, but was especially amazed at the opening and closing ceremonies. All other things aside, spectacular. I do wish I could have been there. (I hold out hope for London.)

Hey was just joking about tees. Good you got one at least as a remembrance 😀 Do post a pic of your Tee 🙂
Now my heart is really hurting. This must have been one heck of an experience!!! I imagine the atmosphere to be almost electric… so many cultures coming together. I saw clips of the nest on TV and it looked spectaculr, your photographs really support this. I am glad that you had a wonderful time 🙂
