“Remember, I can’t promise anything. The weather doesn’t look that great so I don’t think we’ll be able to spend much time on the beach, it’s going to be chilly. And if it’s too windy, the sailing lesson may be cancelled.”

“But it could be sunny and not that windy…”

“Yep.”

“Let’s go, then. It’s worth taking the chance, mommy.”

We had a great time during the sailing lesson I had booked last week, but we didn’t get the chance to actually sail much because the weather conditions were weird—it was extremely hot with zero wind.

People who are into water sports are really into water sports.

And Les Sables d’Olonne is really into sailing.

So the sailing school was as frustrated as us about the experience, and they suggested we book another lesson—for free.

And of course, I agreed… because I’m also really into sailing and water sports.

But the weather is unpredictable these days. It’s not as hot, it gets rainy, even stormy.

I shrugged and bought our train tickets anyway. Worst-case scenario, we would hang out at Les Sables for the day.

We took the 11:08 a.m. train and arrived at 12:32 p.m. If you need train schedule info to Les Sables, Saint Gilles or La Baule, just Google me—we took so many day trips this summer, I’m basically a human version of the SNCF app.

I looked around us. Not too bad. Sunny, probably no rain, but very, very windy.

We had a couple of hours to kill before going to the meeting point, somewhere in Les Sables’ massive harbour, so we decided to explore the city once again.
