I’m telling you—our annual “flower porn” session feels awesome after this long and cold winter! Bonus: this year I am not pregnant and it’s much easier to bend down to take macro pictures. On the other side, I do have to deal with Mark who isn’t a huge fan of flowers…!
The annual Tulips Festival opened on a very warm week and the flowers were all in bloom. It was beautiful, as usual. We went to Dow’s Lake and by the Canal on several occasions to capture the beautiful sea of colours.
I am so ready for summer!

Is it just me, or are your pictures of tulips even more beautiful than the ones of the years before?
I think my favourite ones are those that combine yellow-orange-pink… Just like the sunset!
😆 Thank you!
I miss these types of photos from you! I always liked it when you can focus on one part of the photo and blur everything else around it; it does a good job highlighting the colors of the flowers.
And I am glad that Mark doesn’t show any allergic reactions to flowers! That’s always a good sign.
That’s the one time of the year where the macro lens comes it handy 🙂
so pretty!!
It’s quite a display of colours, isn’t it!
May is my favourite month to be in Ottawa. It’s neither too hot nor too cold and I love the Tulip Festival. When I was growing up I didn’t think the Tulip Festival was anything special, but now that I am so far away I miss it so much.
I’m off to look at the rest of your pictures!
This month was a bit too cold for my liking though…
Oh WOW!!!!! They are beautiful!!!! I love them all. My Younger Daughter went to the Garden By The Bay (new attraction at Marina) and told some tulips too….gorgeous!!!!
beautiful pictures!! I want to go and see (maybe next year)
You should definitely come and have a look if you get the chance! Ottawa is lovely at this time of the year.
Of course my favorite picture is you holding Mark, surrounded by flowers. Lovely!
😆 He was trying to eat the flowers!
Oh wow, these photos are beautiful!
I think I’ll have to add the Ottawa Tulip Festival to my ongoing bucket list. Tulips are my favourite flower, after roses of course 😉
You definitely should, it’s a lovely festival!
