Of course, when in Toronto two weeks ago, we ended up in Chinatown – again. Looks like I can never really escape my Chinese roots – wait a minute… I’m not Chinese!
Nonetheless, I feel at home in crowded Chinatown. The smell of the food, the colorful signs and displays, the multicultural atmosphere make me feel good. Plus, it’s a great place to take pictures.

It’s only when I showed up at Starbucks that I realized I had no idea how to order in French. And ordering my coffee in English in Montreal would look back, wouldn’t it. But I needed coffee: this is a working weekend for me and I haven’t had much sleep the last few days.
Niagara Falls in Winter
After a few days in Toronto, we had decided to drive to Niagara Falls on January 1st. I was curious to see the falls in the winter. Because the weather had been relatively mild in Toronto, we had forgotten how cold it really was in the rest of Canada. An hour away from Toronto, it started to snow. In Niagara Falls, it was cold and windy and there were huge chunks if ice here and there in the water.
