Parliament Hill from Majors Hill Park, Ottawa, May 2012

Parliament Hill and the Canadian Parliament in Ottawa are a bit like Tolkien’s Mount Doom—you can see it from pretty much anywhere in the downtown core and it feels like living under the Eye of Sauron (or Harper, depending on how you feel about it—to me it’s the same).

Even after almost ten years in Ottawa, I keep on discovering new angles. This one was taken from Majors Hill Park last May. I’m pretty sure the trees are taller now and that they partially block the building, which is probably why I never took that shot before.

Beautiful! I’ve never seen the parliament from this angle before.
