Happy Canada Day everyone!
Here in the National Capital, we are enjoying our yearly “day of fame” under a lovely blue sky and very summery temperatures of 32°C.
Feng and I headed downtown this morning to enjoy some of the festivities. It seemed less busy than last year when the Royal couple was in Ottawa, but Parliament Hill was still tightly packed with a river of white- and red-clad Canadians and tourists.
We spotted the Mounties, the Governor-General and the Snowbirds before making our way to Major’s Hill Park, where some Canada-themed activities were underway.
After a few hours of walking around, we decided to take the opportunity to visit the National Gallery of Canada since most museums are free on Canada Day. We had been there a long time ago and I didn’t remember how lovely the building was inside, especially the windows of the Great Hall that capture Parliament Hill. The museum has an excellent art collection, we will definitely be back to explore it when it’s less busy and when we have more energy!
What did you do for Canada Day?

Yo…Happy Canada Day to everyone 😀 So cool and so colourful and vibrant there… 😀
Thank you Shionge!
I love the colours, it must have been a beautiful day!
Happy belated Canada Day!! Great photos!
We packed and brought some stuff over to our new place, went to IKEA (it was nice and quiet) and then relaxed with some friends. It was great!
Sometime, Canada Day with friends can be a great way to celebrate, away from the craziness downtown!
Wow, it’s nice to see people in those colors, bright red and white! From an expat point of view, I have always been interested in seeing how locals celebrate national holidays; thanks for taking those awesome pictures and sharing them!
Canada’s national day is particularly fun I find, I never liked Bastille Day that much. Too much military.
I like seeing everyone out celebrating. 😀 I didn’t do anything particularly Canadian around these parts. Just hung out with a Canadian and ate cheesecake at a Korean supermarket, haha! 😀
July is certainly a month for celebrating, with Canada Day, Independence Day and Bastille Day!
