Merry Christmas, everyone!
It’s a very unusual Christmas here—no snow, and as I’m writing this, on the 24th, it’s 17°C outside. No kidding.
On the 23rd, temperatures were mild as well and it was very foggy. I went for a long walk just because I could (it’s rarely warm enough to spend time outside in December!) and because I found the foggy weather very intriguing.
Here are the shots I gathered that day, from the eerie Experimental Farm to Parliament Hill in the fog, from the busy Rideau Centre to the Byward Market.

It is quite weird, I have hearing that a lot. People have blaming us, that we did something.
I don’t blame you, I THANK you for this warm winter!
These photos take me back 🙂 I was there this time last year but it definitely wasn’t this warm! Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas! I think we (by “we”, I mean the lazy folks who hate shoveling snow…) got lucky!
East of a line going from Dallas to Chicago, it is warmer than usual (in Buffalo, NY, the last time they don’t have noticeable snow in december was in 1889). West of this line, it is ok, I had -18° yesterday all way long from Medicine Hat to Edmonton.
Picking the correct one in the list is tricky. I hesitate between 2) and 8).
And Canadian are shopping addicted : lot of stores were closed yesterday, and today, I’ve just seen the biggest line up south of Edmonton I’ve ever seen in the area. Seriously, people, can’t you stay away of shopping a few days? Ridiculous.
And in the spirit of point 8 :
Hi hi, j’adore Boulet…
I avoided stores today because of Bozing Day. I ain’t no masochist.
It was -29C this morning in Regina and we have about 2 inches of snow, so it feels like a true Christmas. We didn’t have any snow for Christmas in 97 which I think was the last El Nino.
The gas froze in my car so I had to put gasliine antifreeze in the tank to make it run. I don’t consider it to be really cold unti it gets around -40C. We haven’t had -45C since 95. It was kind of fun throwing water in the air watching it freeze before it hit the ground. Also, I tried to straighten my extension cord and all the plastic coating shattered off it just leaving the bare wires. They say there is no such thing as cold weather, only inappropriate clothing. By this reasoning, it is probably pretty nice at the Sea of Tranquility, if you have a spacesuit.
It is pretty cool to have fog for Christmas. Great photos! I have seen a lot of Canada but I still want to see Ottawa, the North and the Maritimes.
Happy New Year!
Bonne Année et Bonne Santé!
Oh, wow. It snow here last night as well and it feels like winter today with ice and snow. An amazing change in less than 24 hours!
Funny!
I just noticed that you said that you stayed home because of bozing day. Was that intentional, a typo or a Freudian slip. It is a good idea. Stay home and get drunk instead of lining up to buy more stuff that you don’t need. You would save money and have a better time.
😆 Didn’t notice! I can’t even remember the last time I drank alcohol (not my poison), so I was mostly definitely not drunk. Meh, I’ll leave it, it’s a fun typo!
I was so happy with No Snow Christmas !! but now I think I jinxed myself 🙁 I have yet to clear my driveway.
Just catching up on my blog reading now from the holidays – just wanted to chime in and say I love this set! The Parliament Hill ones are my favourites.
It’s such a majestic building… I love it.
