Surprise surprise, the world didn’t end on December 21, 2012, and we survived yet another predicted doomsday. Gee, what a letdown! That’s it, I’m not trusting the world ever again—it’s been crying wolf too many times.
On a more serious note, I can’t help feeling sorry for those who truly expected the apocalypse. I mean, you wake up feeling kind of silly, don’t you? Do these people feel happier, as if they were given a second chance? How do they face the world? Do they drive around town trying to buy their belongings they sold on Kijiji or Craiglist? Do they ask their guru for their money back?
Meanwhile, the first day of the winter in Ottawa marked the first major snow storm of the year—over 30 centimetres (for my non-metric American friends, 30 cm equals to a shitload of snow) of the white stuff in only a day. It started with freezing rain the night before, and it snowed non-stop after that. The neighborhood was very quiet and I think a lot of people “worked from home” that Friday. We literally couldn’t get the car out of the driveway and that snow was heavy to shovel!
So I guess we will have a white Christmas after all. The scenery is lovely, it adds to the overall festive atmosphere.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays everyone! Peace on earth *crossing fingers*

I miss snow days a lot, here it’s about 12 degrees, hellishly hot for winter!
Merry Christmas!
Wow, that’s hot for Paris in December!
I’m jealous of your snow! Have a very happy Christmas!
I would love to share my snow with you… are you available to shovel?? 😉
