A few weeks ago, I saw a call for entries on OttawaStart’s Twitter feed @OttawaStart. Photographers were invited to submit their view of Ottawa, exploring the city’s grittier side. Photographs would then be exhibited at the Ottawa CONNECT – Art and Photography Exhibit.
I handpicked five shots and sent them to Mike Young, one of the judges.
A few days later, he informed me that he had chosen three of my pictures: Inukshuk on the Ottawa River, Braiding at the Aboriginal Solstice Festival and Ottawa Prorogation Rally. These shots will join the 23 images to be enlarged, framed, and hung in the gallery.
Needless to say, I was pretty flattered and I welcomed the opportunity.
On Thursday, August 4, I went to the opening at the Fall Down Gallery, at 288 Bank St. I fell in love with the place and art exhibited. It was vibrant, meaningful, quirky and welcoming.
And of course, seeing my pictures hung beside other great artists and photographers made me blush!
The show runs until August 27, come have a look if you are around Ottawa.
Very interesting. I bet you can go back and keep seeing more!
Oh, I’ll be back for sure!
Congratulations! Let’s hope they pay you some dough for your work. 🙂
Finger-crossed someone buys it! But regardless, it’s a good experience.
Felicitations! I’m glad they picked so many of your photos.
Thank you! I was a bit surprised to be honest.
And why should you be embarrassed? You are an excellent photographer with an eye for the human condition. I am very happy for you.
Thank you! I wish you’d live in Ottawa, I would have taken you to the exhibit 😉
Wow Zhu, I am proud of you! That is a great and wonderful opportunity! Keep up the good work!
Thank you, you’re so sweet! 🙂
A picture within a picture! Interesting photo! 😀
😆 It’s true!
