I’m tired. Like, zombie tired (and now you probably have The Cranberries’ hit stuck in your head, don’t you!).

Mark, work, chores, repeat.

How do you guys do it? Seriously? Am I missing something here? I only have one kid and my job isn’t even that important—I mean, I’m not saving lives here, just moving commas and deleting quotation marks.

It’s been three weeks now that we haven’t had a break, I’ve been working non-stop including evenings and weekends, we are all half sick and I’m maxed out.

I need a break.

… and time-management coaching?

Aw, stress and tiredness aside, this is darling.
I think the way I survive my busy schedule (sans kid, mind you) is by allocating time to work and to play specifically. When you take time off, really take it off. If you try to play with work on the mind, you aren’t really playing!

Oh, I think some people without kids can feel the same! Kid or no kid, a packed schedule is stressful. Like you, when I take time off, I really take time off… but it’s been a little while now 🙁 And maybe that’s the difference actually with a kid, you can’t really claim time off is he is around.

    Time Management 🙂

Don’t you want to punch the guy who tries to teach you things like that, I do, ironically I am that guy too, lol, don’t punch me please.

You know it has happened earlier as well, when you share your views about the toll life takes on our personal space and time, my mind keeps running to one of the songs from “The Dark Side of the Moon”; today the song your post has taken me to is “Time”, there is wisdom there.

    Sorry for the useless comment.

Not useless. Just put my earphones in and listening to the bell ringing… “Time”… starting 🙂 We have similar musical tastes!

🙂 well it is after all one of the greatest albums, I always listen from first track to last, it is work of a Genius, it takes you to a journey. It’s a good sanity break in the middle of things.

I think these albums are written like a journey, it’s exactly that!

Do you have any hobbies? Those are a good break. Sometimes. Other times it just feels like more work to be done.

I have 3 children and we’re currently finishing the basement of a house we just bought. We’re also working on landscaping the backyard. Our families are thousands of kilometres away, and my husband works long hours. I work longer hours, home with our children all day and picking up freelance work when I can 😉 I really sympathize with what you are feeling. Life is exhausting. I can’t remember the last time I wasn’t at least a little bit tired.

My time-off (haha, like moms ever have such a thing) consists of a bath while reading a book, in the evening, after the children are in bed. A pedicure during nap time on the weekend when my husband is home happens maybe once a year. That’s it. I want to get some girlfriends together and have a weekend in Vegas. No kids, no husbands and no housework! I wouldn’t gamble or drink. I just want to take in a few shows and sleep.

This sounds very whiny. I have a beautiful life. I’m just tired.

No, that didn’t sound whiny at all! Thank you for sharing, it actually helps knowing I’m not the only one who occasionally feel overwhelmed. And I only have one kid, now *I* feel whiny! I also have fantasies of running away for a couple of days… not to live the wild life, just to eat and sleep in peace.

My hobbies can lead to more work, like you said–mostly photography, traveling and writing. I try to save some time for “me” time but most days, I’m down to just plucking my eyebrows, a five-minute job that makes me feel marginally human but let’s face it, it sucks as “me time” 😆

Sadly, no magic answers here. I’d love to tell you it gets better, but my three are currently 12, 10, and 7, and I still fall asleep on the couch every night by 8:30. I don’t think the number of kids makes a difference, either – one, two, three, it’s all just SUPER TIRING :). I remember when our kids were very young, about Mark’s age, my friend saying that she was “just so tired of waking up tired,” and YES. I have embraced coffee and try to sneak naps here and there but mostly I am just resigned to never watching any good TV until they are off in college.

(Probably by then I’ll be kept up at night imagining all the stupid things they are doing!)

Yes to waking up tired, and yes to embracing coffee. You’ve just described my life since Mark was born!

Time management and finding “me” time balance is tough…hope you find a bit of a break 🙂

Thank you! Some stages are tough, then it gets easier, than tough again… it depends on so many factors, including my own workload for which Mark is not responsible!
